Today, our 3rd, 4th, and 6th graders were treated to a visit from a special guest author! 📚 He shared his elementary school experiences and how they shaped his love for reading and writing. The students were captivated by his storytelling! A huge thank you to Frank L. Cole for inspiring our young readers!
There is an event tonight at Roy High School from 5:30-7:30 pm with Frank. L. Cole and other authors. There is a book giveaway from 5-5:30 pm, the show starts at 5:30 and then book signing at 6:30 pm. If you are able, I'm sure that Mr. Cole would love to see our Taylor Mustangs there.

Our kindergarteners are learning about the senses, and they had a special guest! 👀✨ We were honored to have a student's grandfather, Dr. Smith from The Vision Smith, visit and share his expertise. He demonstrated the tools used during eye exams, discussed the anatomy of the eye, and shared the importance of eye health providing valuable insights for our young learners. A big thank you to Dr. Smith!

Our 4th graders recently enjoyed a fantastic field trip to the Utah State Capitol building! 🏛️✨ This experience enriched their social studies curriculum as they explored the architectural significance and symbolism of the Capitol. Highlights included the stunning Rotunda, the Hall of Governors, and beautiful artwork throughout the building. These immersive experiences foster a deeper understanding of civic responsibility and connect classroom learning to real-world applications, making history engaging and relevant for our students.

Our 5th graders recently went on a field trip to the North Davis Sewer District as part of the Davis Goes Green program! 🌍💧💚 This initiative promotes understanding of water and waste management in the Davis School District and surrounding areas. Thanks to partnerships with the Weber Basin Water Conservatory, Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District, North Davis Sewer District, and Davis School District, our students got to learn directly from experts about how water is cleaned and waste is managed. The field trip aligns seamlessly with our science curriculum, providing relevant, real-world scenarios that enhance our students' understanding of their environment.

Taylor Elementary School has a DEEP enrichment group. Students who are identified (based on standardized test data and teacher input) are put into pull-out groups that meet 1-2 times a week with our DEEP Specialist, Mrs. Brandenburg.
Davis School District has DEEP Magnet School where identified students (based on Cognitive Ability Test and standardized test data) have a full-time placement in a DEEP class to explore content in greater depth and complexity. This additional depth and rigor can help these academically advanced students.
Applications for testing for the 2026-2027 school year is happening now through January 31, 2026. Taylor Elementary is not a DEEP Magnet School, so if your student qualifies, guardians will need to provide transportation to one of the nearest Magnet Schools: Bountiful, Valley View, West Bountiful, or Centerville Elementary School.
Please go to the DEEP website for FAQs, other information, and to apply: www.davis.k12.ut.us/page/deep-davis-enhanced-education

Even with all the proper care and handling of laptops and iPads, sometimes accidents happen. We encourage you to protect yourselves from accidental damages and lost devices with the Device Protection Plan. The enrollment deadline is fast approaching! MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1!
Students are assigned laptops or iPads to use in class, and occasionally to bring home to complete homework assignments. We are grateful that our students are reliable and handle the school-issued devices carefully, but mistakes and accidents still happen. Without the protection plan, you will be expected to pay full price for any loss or damage. The optional fee is available on your myDSD guardian account, but the deadline to opt in for 2025-2026 coverage is this weekend! If you are interested in the Device Protection Plan, log on to your myDSD guardian account and look for optional fees on the Payments tab to pay the $25 fee. For details on plan coverage, please see the Policies Page of our school website and look for "Device Protection Plan (insurance for school-issued devices)."

Trust their innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure
Increase their capacity to regulate stressful emotional states (the parents/caregivers and their child's)

✨ Introducing Gallop Tickets at Taylor Elementary! 🐎
We are excited to launch our new schoolwide positive behavior system: Gallop Tickets!
✅ How it works:
Students earn Gallop Tickets by showing Mustang values: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Reliable.
Tickets go into raffle boxes in the office and at our monthly assemblies (first Monday of each month), names will be drawn for big prizes! 🎉
🎟️ Mystery Student in Specials:
During Art, Music, PE, Library, and Computers, teachers secretly select a “Mystery Student.”
If that student shows safe, kind, and reliable behavior, they’ll be revealed and receive a token for our new prize vending machine! 🧸✨
🏆Gallop Tickets celebrate positive choices and create fun ways for students to be recognized while building a strong school community.
How you can help at home:
• Ask your child how they earned their Gallop Tickets this week.
• Encourage them to keep being Safe, Kind, and Reliable at school and at home.
• Celebrate their effort and positive choices—not just the prize!
We can’t wait to watch our students shine as they gallop with greatness this year!
