We need to conduct a tie breaker vote to finalize the new Community Council members. Please get on myDSD for Part 2 of the vote, before Wednesday, May 13 at 11:59 pm.

********************************

Your voice matters! Please vote for Taylor Elementary’s Community Council's elected parent members! 🗳️ Log in to your myDSD account and choose three of the five nominees by Sunday, May 10 at 11:59 PM. The Community Council brings parents into school decision-making to improve Taylor Elementary. Elected parents represent all families, help develop school improvement plans, make decisions about School Land Trust funds, and raise awareness of related policies.

Please log in to your myDSD account and cast your votes by Sunday, May 10 at 11:59 PM. Your participation makes a real difference! Thank you for being involved!

Nominees:

Savana Olson - I’m a parent and active member of this community who cares deeply about creating a safe, supportive, and connected neighborhood for families. Being involved in my kids’ activities and everyday life here has given me a strong appreciation for how much a thoughtful, engaged council can positively impact our community. I want to serve on the community council to help represent the needs of families, encourage open communication, and contribute to decisions that make our area an even better place to live. I’m practical, collaborative, and committed to showing up and doing the work.

Heather Hulse - All of my children are Taylor Mustangs! I would like to help with Community Council to learn more of what's going on in the school and to help create positive change with the School Goals.

McKenzie Keene - I love this school. I’ve volunteered here since my oldest child was in Kindergarten in 2018 and I’m passionate about education. I majored in Elementary Education and although I do not currently teach, I want to be involved in the school and help support the teachers and students. I will have 3 kids in this school next year and I would love to get more involved by being apart of this community council. I teach dance in my home and am actively involved in my neighborhood. I would love to represent the parents in our community with discussing ways to improve our school and give input on important decisions. I love the kids in our community and ultimately want what is best for them and their learning.

Peyton Craighill - I'm the dad of two (soon to be three!) kids enrolled at Taylor Elementary. The school has provided a ton of value to my family, and I'm interested in helping out if I can.

Kara Hale - I have had 4 kids attend Taylor Elementary. I care deeply about the school community. I taught special education in the Davis School District. I believe I have a unique perspective having been a teacher and a parent. I am committed to using the trust land funding to address the greatest needs at Taylor.

America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.
