Winter Wonderland is coming! ❄️ Monday, Dec 15 • 5:30–7:00 PM
Stroll around the outside of the school to see our glowing classrooms and enjoy student-made art displayed in the windows, festive lights, hot chocolate, and popcorn. Santa is busy preparing for Christmas, so the Grinch is excited to step in and pull his “Grinchy trick. With his coat and hat, he’ll look like Saint Nick!” Bring the family and capture some cozy moments.

Look at those smiles! 😄 As part of our school-wide initiative to encourage positive behavior, many students turned in their Gallop Tickets and earned an extra recess with school administration. Last week these excellent students enjoyed basketball, slides, hula-hoops, and more while spending fun time with Dr. Denhalter (Principal), Mrs. Petersen (Administrative Intern), and Officer Scott (School Resource Officer). 🏀🛝Well done, students, for modeling great choices—keep up the awesome behavior! Be Safe! Be Kind! Be Reliable!

🎒 Field trip highlight! ✨ Our 2nd graders brought learning to life by exploring the Natural History Museum of Utah. Students observed fossils, learned how glaciers sculpt landscapes, studied animal adaptations, explored weather vs. climate, and renewable energy in Utah. These activities connected core social studies and science standards with the real world. 🌄🦖🌱🌍

It is almost time for our annual Veterans Day Assembly. Students have been working hard in their music class to sing patriotic songs to honor our veterans! We invite veterans who are close to students or staff from Taylor Elementary School to join us in person at the assembly, which will begin at 9:15 am on Tuesday, November 11. Please make sure to bring photo ID to come into the building.
We wish we had a room large enough to fit all our students and all of their families, but we don't. We will provide a YouTube live stream for families to have the opportunity to watch the assembly from home. The YouTube link will be posted here when it is available. Until then, subscribe to our official school YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@TaylorElementary-Official-p7x for notifications from YouTube.

Just poppin' in to say that we would be soda-lighted if you could donate your pop can tabs! 🥤Now through Friday, May 15, we are collecting pop can tabs (or soup can tabs, pet food can tabs - any aluminum tabs will do). These will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in the spring. Collecting pop tabs can make a BIG difference! ♻️💖 By recycling these little aluminum gems, you’re helping Ronald McDonald House keep families close during tough times.

Our fourth graders recently had a valuable educational experience at the Alf Engen Ski Museum at Utah Olympic Park. 🎿 Students engaged with interactive stations featuring museum artifacts, learned about the immersion of Native American culture and civil rights history in relation to the Winter Games. They also examined the math and science involved in the bobsled track and ski jumps. This field trip provided a rich learning environment that combined academic content with fun real-world applications.

Our third graders finished an amazing unit on the human body! 🦴💪 As part of CKLA - Core Knowledge Language Arts, they explored the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems, learning how they all connect. They even discovered the idiom “a clean bill of health” and ways to stay active and healthy. What a fantastic learning experience!

The Davis School District Office of Equal Opportunity invites all K-12 enrolled students to participate in the 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Speech Contest. This allows students to reflect on the legacy of Dr. King.
Participants will perform a 1-3-minute excerpt from a single speech from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, in any language. There are three categories: Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd through 4th, and 5th through 6th grade. There will be a winner from each category to move on to the district competition. There are cash prizes for the top 3 performers at the district level: $100, $75, and $50.
If your student would like to participate, they can get more information and the permission form from Mrs. Stringfellow in the library (
astringfellow@dsdmail.net). The deadline is Thursday, November 6.
Pictured is the student who represented Taylor Elementary in the 2024 speech contest. For updates, see:

We had a recent visit from the Centerpoint Theatre Troubadours! 🎭✨ Our students learned choreography, stage directions, and got to perform together and for each other! This experience taught us about the various roles in a theatre production and the importance of both performers and audience members. What a fun way to explore the theatrical arts!
